E-Mail Services¶
E-Mail Services defines how Emakin sends email notifications and, when enabled, how users can act directly from email messages.
Open Messaging and Automation → E-Mail.
When to Use This Page¶
Use this page when you need to:
- configure SMTP delivery
- configure OpenAuth-based mail delivery
- test outbound email connectivity
- enable email-based actions that depend on inbound mail handling
For outgoing messages, Emakin tries enabled OpenAuth-based mail services first and then enabled SMTP connections. OpenAuth failure does not prevent the SMTP stage from being attempted. For each stage, domain-level settings are used when present; otherwise application-level settings are used.
Environment Variable References¶
Sensitive SMTP fields such as User Name and Password support environment-variable placeholders.
Examples:
1 2 | |
The Test Connection action resolves these placeholders before attempting SMTP authentication.
E-Mail Actions¶
Select Yes, use mail actions to let users perform selected actions directly from email notification messages. Select No, use only web to require those actions to be completed in the web application.
This feature depends on inbound mail configuration. See Mail Forwarding.
SMTP Connections¶
Use this section to define SMTP servers for outbound mail.
Is Enabled?¶
Controls whether the SMTP configuration is active.
From Address¶
Sender address used in outgoing email.
From Display Name¶
Sender display name shown to recipients.
SMTP Server¶
Hostname or IP address of the SMTP server.
Test Connection¶
Sends a test message after you provide the required connection details and a valid recipient address.
User Name¶
SMTP authentication user name.
Password¶
SMTP authentication password.
SSL¶
Controls whether SSL is used for the SMTP connection.
SMTP Port¶
Leave this field empty to use the mail client's default port. Common explicit values are:
| Mail Server Type | Port Number |
|---|---|
| Non-Encrypted | 25 |
| Secure (TLS) | 587 |
| Secure (SSL) | 465 |
OpenAuth-Based E-Mail Services¶
Use this section when outbound email should be sent through an OpenAuth-backed service.
Is Enabled?¶
Controls whether the OpenAuth-based email service is active.
Client Type¶
Defines the OpenAuth client type. Office 365 is currently supported here.
Service¶
Selects the integrated service definition to use. Because mail sending often runs in background jobs without an interactive user, the selected integrated service must be configured as a service account.
Name¶
Internal descriptive name for this email-service entry.
Service Identity¶
Sender email address used by the OpenAuth mail service. When a domain restricts service identities, this address must be permitted by that domain's service-identity filter.
Scopes¶
Scopes requested for this service. For Office 365, leaving the field empty requests the default Mail.Send Mail.ReadWrite scopes.
